Do you ever have goals that somehow evade ever getting accomplished?
I will share with you a goal I had for May and June. I wanted to compete 30 cloud studies by the beginning of July, and I have fallen VERY short of that goal. Sigh. These three studies were completed in May, I just was slow in getting them photographed.
With this series I am working with a limited palette and so far when I do complete some of the series, I am learning tons. Some progress is better than none...

It has been awhile since I shared any photos of my two girls, Slim {my sweet Abyssinian kitty} and Naomi {my sweet soon to be one year old!}. They get along great, and last week Naomi learned how to hold a string toy for Slim to pounce at, and it has been a great success.
And any day now, we expect Naomi to stand up and begin walking, or maybe even running. Exciting times are ahead of us!

Hi Suzanne, It is only a matter of time before Naomi takes off. This morning she attempted several steps unaided by anything, just her balance, she was able to accomplish one step, but then faltered... so any try might be the one where she learns to shift her weight!

Liz, I am delighted to find your beautiful blog through PVE. My favorite thing about your paintings is how you make things glisten... the Ball jars, the strawberries; they're beautiful! I am inspired by your idea of doing cloud studies. Since I retired, I am taking oil painting lessons and long to be able to capture the clouds so I think I'll try doing some studies too. Of course, like you, I won't reach my goal either but we will both learn from whatever we are able to accomplish. I'll be back to enjoy your site often!

Yes, please do complete some cloud studies, they are such a good subject to work on all the subtle aspects of painting with oils, like soft transitions, gradations from dark to light, and edge quality control.
