As the days are lengthening,
I am loving the warm glow of the afternoon sun.
What have you been noticing?
Today was an excellent day spent in my figure painting class taught by Danni Dawson where I wiped down everything I placed on the canvas. It just was not going well and in the end sometimes it is just better to call it a day and plan to start over again next time. I am trying out a heavy weave linen canvas that is posing all sorts of technical challenges, though I will keep trying until mastery is achieved. So every time I wipe down my work I feel like I have gained something new. {here is a nice post about Danni’s latest painting that was hung in the Art League Faculty Show}
Also for today, I want to thank Kara Holloway from the Love List for the nice interview about my work. I feel so special being a part of the “Artist + Muse” series.
Have a nice evening,
Liz

BEAUTIFUL photo!
"I will keep trying 'till mastery is achieved"--now THERE'S a powerful, positive statement! Gotta love it. :)
Love the photo and the painting in that photo!!
Thanks Last Cup and Manon! Before getting into painting photography was my main artistic outlet.
Jala, I am glad you like the sentiment. I keep reading and hearing that perserverence is the only way to succeed with an art career and I think that goes with handling the materials :)
I'm right there with you Liz! I've seen a lot of artists mentioning these kinds of struggles recently with getting a painting out (and I'm one of them), so let's hope that means a breakthrough or a little more understanding is waiting around the corner.
Hi Kerri, maybe it has to do with the changing season? I am hopeful that better understanding is just around the corner :)
It's a stunner of a photo!
Isn't it amazing how noticing the length of days can lift your spirits and give you a bit more energy? I'm at a higher latitude and we're really noticing it around here. The early morning sun beams through my window and I can't wait to get into the studio and start my day. :-)
A very nice photo.
A beautiful photo...love your work on figure drawing...an inspiration!
Hi Julie, I know the feeling, the earlier the sun is out the faster I seem to get into the studio also!
Thanks Sirkka and Jean for stopping by. It means a lot to me :)
We all struggle with those days when we just can't get it and you're right, it's all part of the process. I'm happy to have arrived at a place where wiping feels like a success. At least it's not another bad painting hanging around.
"at least it's not another bad painting hanging around"
I so agree and it saves on canvas and panels!
