{what is on the easel and the current setup}
Have you ever started a project, and once you were in the middle of it you realized it would require a LOT more time to complete? This happened to me last week when I began to work on the next painting in the Bountiful Observations series.
The DC region has been having such warm weather that my petunias have just been fantastic, and I wanted to paint them before a freeze occurs and kills them off. So instead of setting up one composition for a single painting, I was inspired to create three setups. All coordinated around three vases and some bowls I have from the cool shop, Anthropologie.
The first two paintings of the triptych are in different stages, somewhat near completion but not quite. And the third painting has been blocked in but I am still not satisfied, so will probably tweak it some more as this week progresses.
Next Monday I hope to have the first of this series ready to offer. So please stay tuned...

You are really ambitious! This is going to be so beautiful!
Guilty of that - I take on way more than I can do even though many of my friends tell me that I must be part superwoman or a machine. I do try my best and that is what I tell my kids too.
I think letting go of things and finding that happy spot makes it all worthwhile. Try to paint "in the present" and know that is where we do our best work.

Thanks so much! All of your support is so helpful. I must have some sort of complex where I feel like I must finish everything I start and within a very ambitious timeline... Motherhood is teaching me to slow down some :)

Liz, I love your set ups, so inspiring, I bet you can't wait to get to the next step!! ..and before those flowers start to wilt! I clicked your link to the Anthropologie shop, and wound up there for about a 1/2 hour looking at all the great stuff!!! lol... thanks for sharing your work, and the little details that go with it :-)

ah Debbie, if you got lost on the Anthropologie website, just wait until you get the chance to visit an actual store! It is a total experience and expect to spend a LONG time browsing everything, the clothes, housewares, and especially the decorative displays and vignettes they have all over the store.
