Inspiration

Awakenings III – 2-1/2” x 2-1/2 – watercolor

The dream is coming closer, everywhere I look and turn is providing me with the excitement to begin creating.

Here are a few places I have been finding inspiration this week:

*gratitude
*finding winter
*colors that remind me of spring
*poetry
*a Richard Diebenkorn quote

What has been capturing your artistic spirit this week?

What was the Diebenkorn quote? I saw some of his work at (is it the East Gallery or Wing at the National Gallery of Art in DC?) many years ago and I was knocked out by his use of color.

I love your fresh and lively watercolors. They seem to counterbalance your lovely oils that have a totally, more serene feel.

Paula, here is the quote "When I'm half way there with a painting, it can occasionally be thrilling... But it happens very rarely; usually it's agony. I go to great pains to mask the agony. But the struggle is there. It's the invisible enemy." -Richard Diebenkorn.

Instead of putting the quote in this post, I linked to one of my favorite blogs "Artslice" where I first saw this quote.

Thanks Carol, I really like how with watercolor I am not sure what is going to happen. When I paint with watercolors they always seem to be made up of happy accidents.

It just feels good to go with the flow and learn from the process.
