Juggling and being behind...

{Naomi exploring}

Juggling it all, family, career, and personal, is a well balanced dance, and if one area gets out of whack, I begin to trip up and drop some balls.

I do not have a new Bountiful Observations painting to share with you today because I have had a series of days where my well planned days did not progress as hoped. Last week I botched a painting I had been working one, then on Sunday after a few hours of working on a new one, I stepped back and realized it also needed to wiped down, and today (Monday) began at 1:30am for me and Naomi. She has a head cold and cough, and was unable to got back to sleep dispite all my best efforts... And so no studio time was achieved and I do not expect much time a the easel tomorrow as well.

She is doing better this evening, she went down easily, and soon I too will crash in bed for some much needed sleep...

So, what are you juggling right now? How do you manage it? Do you have a little help or some secret that always sees you through? Please share your secret, as it may be just what I need right now :)

Sweet dreams to you, Liz

Aww Liz, go easy on yourself dear.

You do so much already and days like that are bound to happen. I did not pick up a paint brush myself back up until Alexander was 3 (but then again our circumstances were different). I both commend you and am inspired by how well you are able to juggle Mommyhood with a young child and still manage to paint as frequently and at the caliber that you do. I prescribe to you the rest of the week off. Read some books. Catch up on your sleep and then get right back at that easel when life is less stressful.

We all need a little time off. Big hugs to you! -Suzanne

The little ones always come first, don't they? and that's the way it should be...They grow up fast! There will always be time to paint, sooner or later :-)

Awwwh, thanks Suzanne :) I needed to hear that, I am having to take this week off because I think Naomi passed on her cold to me, so this week is dedicated to recuperating and getting back on our feet.

I've often wondered in awe of how you are able to manage so much and produce the beautiful paintings that you do! I have no secrets to share... I never got it figured out. I fiddled around with art but waited until my children were grown and semi-retired before I could manage to get back to it. You're doing great! Spend time with that little one when she needs you and be kind to yourself when you need it.:)

Hi Liz,

I have 2 little boys. One just started kindergarten and I have a 3 year old. I've been painting since my 3 year old was an infant. I can tell you it does get a little easier as they get older and more independent. But it is always changing and you just have to do the best you can and roll with the punches. We're also military so we move all the time and never have family around so that can get hairy especially like last year when my husband was deployed to Afghanistan and it was just me. I've learned to adapt, I live on caffeine and a few hours sleep, but there is a bittersweet silver lining, school age comes in the blink of an eye. Today was my first day ever of having both children at school for a solid block of time, I wish I could say I got more painting done but it was the first day. Good luck and wishing you the best from another mother in the artistic trench:)
